2019 Anarchy Summer: Variations on Korean Anarchism
August 16-17, Seoul
From 2001 to 2011, Anarchy Summer was an event where people who met through the Korea Anarchist Network (Anarclan) organized various conversations and workshops about anarchism. Anarchy Summer was a time for people to share and discuss their diverse perspectives and activities. After an eight-year hiatus, this year, in 2019, we are organizing Anarchy Summer once again to open a meeting space for people who are each doing activism from their different positions. We hope that this year's event will be an opportunity for people from near and far to help and support each other, to share thoughts, and to make a loose network for getting to know each other better and continuing communication and exchange.
The topic of this year's Anarchy Summer is: "Variations on Korean Anarchism." Over the past eight years, we have all passed by activities, individuals, or groups related to anarchism out in the field or online. Yet, there have not been many opportunities to sit down and talk to each other about what kind of thoughts we are each thinking or what kind of activities we are each doing. We need not (nor is it possible to) have exactly the same goals or directions, but nevertheless, by drawing a *topography of anarchism's variations* that are each centered on Korea, or that each take Korea as a point of intersection/meeting, we will try to form a space for acknowledging each other's existence and sharing our thoughts with each other.
